In summer 2019, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming approached our organization to explore options of redesigning their corporate website. Serving people across the state of Wyoming, their site needed to be informative, approachable, mobile-ready, and easy to use for a variety of audiences.
I worked with BCBSWY from start to finish. First, I facilitated a design thinking workshop with representatives from across their organization to establish website goals and values, audience profiles, user goals, and a group-oriented homepage wireframe activity. This helped the client not only better understand the purpose and goal of their website, but get a feel for the UI/UX process.
I then took these findings and did additional user and pattern research with peer organizations. All of this information went into creating site wireframes, a new information architecture map, and high-fidelity mock-ups to review with the client.
The next step was to produce the website using WordPress to manage the theming, custom templates, and content. Over the course of several months, I transformed the wireframes into a custom WordPress theme, with custom post types, taxonomies, and plugins for site features and interactivity. The site was also built using Elementor to ensure the client would be able to easily edit content and layouts after launch.
In early summer 2020, we launched the new BCBSWY.com site. I’m very pleased how the site turned out and what a project to be able to manage and produce!
